IG Markets: Detailed Introduction and Rebate Overview

Updated: 2025/10/27  |  CashbackIsland

IG-Markets-en

Cashback Island provides IG Markets rebate services for clients.

As an IB (Introducing Broker), when Cashback Island introduces a client to IG Markets, IG Markets rewards the IB based on the client’s trading volume. The IB then shares a portion of this reward with the client, which is the rebate.

Every time a client trades using an IG Markets account opened through Cashback Island, the client receives a rebate.

The process for opening a rebate account is the same as for a regular account, requiring only a simple user registration!

Save money on your overseas forex trading with our rebate service!

IG Markets Rebate Information

The IG Markets rebate plan offers up to $5. If a client’s trading volume meets a specific standard, a higher rebate ratio can be negotiated, effectively reducing overall trading costs.

Users who register through our exclusive link will enjoy the rebate offer, while all other trading costs (including spreads, commissions, etc.) are identical to the official rates, with no extra fees. This ensures that investors receive additional benefits while trading in an environment that is no different from the official standards.

Below are the rebate amounts for various trading instruments at IG Markets.

Fund Security

As an investment company, IG strictly segregates client funds from its own funds, holding them in regulated bank trust accounts to ensure their safety.

Even if IG were to go into liquidation, client funds would not be affected by the company’s debts. IG never uses client funds for its operational activities, such as hedging trades or margin payments.

Client funds are held in segregated accounts at top-tier banks, legally belonging to the clients, and cannot be accessed by IG or its creditors.

IG diversifies risk by holding funds with multiple reputable international banks, such as HSBC Hong Kong. If IG or the bank holding the funds were to fail, client funds would still be legally protected because all deposits are held independently in regulated custodial accounts.

High-Volume Trader Rebate

IG Markets offers a high-volume trader rebate program for frequent traders, providing rebates based on spreads or commissions when trading volumes reach certain levels.

This program applies to asset classes such as forex, indices, stock CFDs, and commodities, allowing active traders to enjoy more rewards.

To qualify for the rebate, traders must meet the minimum trading volume requirement within a calendar month.

The rebate tiers apply to all asset classes. When a client reaches a higher tier in any one asset class, the rebates for other asset classes will also be applied at the same tier.

For example, if a client reaches Tier 3 in forex trading, the rebates for indices, stock CFDs, and commodities will also be applied at that tier.

 Rebate Calculation Example

Example A: Forex

  • Trading Volume: Notional trading value of $300 million in a month
  • Applicable Rebate Tier: Tier 3 ($10 rebate per million USD traded)
  • Rebate Amount: 300 × 10 = $3000
  • Rebate Percentage: If the average spread for GBP/USD is 1 pip, the spread cost would be approximately $11,783, making the rebate equivalent to 25.46% of the spread cost

Example B: Indices

  • Trading Volume: Notional trading value of $35 million in a month
  • Applicable Rebate Tier: Since forex reached Tier 3, the index rebate also applies at this tier
  • Rebate Amount: 35 × 7 = $245
  • Rebate Percentage: If the average spread for the US Tech 100 index is 1 point, the spread cost would be approximately $1,190, making the rebate equivalent to 20.5% of the spread cost

Total monthly rebate = $3000 (Forex) + $245 (Indices) = $3,245

 Rebate Tiers and Standards

Asset Class Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3
Forex (million USD) 25 ($5) 200 ($7) 300 ($10)
Indices (million USD) 40 ($2) 100 ($5) 200 ($7)
Stock CFDs (million USD) 1.5 (5%) 6 (10%) 10 (20%)

20 ($7) 30 ($9)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is a margin call?

A margin call is a term used when the net equity on a client’s account (total capital deposited plus or minus all profits and losses) falls below the required margin. Clients can view this information at the top of the IG platform.

At this point, the system may automatically close some of your positions to reduce the margin requirement of the account.

Clients can resolve this situation in two ways: deposit enough funds to bring their net equity above the required margin, or close positions to reduce the margin requirement. If you need more advice, please call our dedicated support team at +61 (3) 9860 1776 for assistance.

Q2. How are overnight financing fees calculated?

If you hold a short-term trading contract and wish to hold it overnight, you will need to pay a daily interest fee.

This fee is charged for any spot CFD position held overnight (past 10 PM UK time, though this may not apply to international markets)*.

*The settlement time for US stocks is 8 PM (New York time) from Monday to Thursday and 10 PM (UK time) on Fridays.

Futures and forward contracts do not incur overnight financing fees, but they have higher spreads. These contracts are generally used for long-term trading.

Q3. What is the difference between stop and limit orders?

If you want to set a price that is better than the current market price for an order you are opening, you will need to place a limit order. This order will only be executed if the market price reaches or exceeds the limit price. The same logic applies if you attach a limit as a take-profit level; the position will only be closed if it reaches that limit price or better.

If you are trying to execute a trade at a price that is less favorable than the current price, you are placing a stop order. If this price level is breached, your order will be executed on the market, regardless of the price at that time. Therefore, the system may execute your order at a level less favorable than you requested. If you attach a stop as a closing condition to a position and the stop is triggered, the stop order may be executed at a less favorable price.
